Arizona's is tougher to find than the actual state, located in a complex of stores tucked back away from West 87th Street in Overland Park. Arizona (the state) has never appealed to me with its hot, scorching weather and abundance of cacti. I wasn't getting my hopes up with this establishment. After all, it is called Arizona's. To my surprise, Arizona's had some nice decor and not an over-the-top sports feeling. I really like that because it still seems like a place to hang out, bring a date, or whatever the choosing. You won't be overtaken by unruly fans, athletic gear and bobble-head dolls either. Another big plus was the game room. It's completely offset from the bar with dart machines and pool tables. I like the privacy it condones, making it feel like a separate area all together. That's pretty much were I hung with a crew of 10, feeling completely comfortable without any overcrowding. Playing a game of Cricket was too expensive for my liking, but of course, I played anyway. The outdoor patio seemed like a happening spot. Granted the view from there is a parking lot but people seemed to enjoy it. Bartenders (both women) were extremely nice to me. You might say they were begging for tips but I felt a genuine sincerity in their voices. That might of been the Boulevard Wheat talking. All in all it's a fun spot where all the clientele were really laid back and cool. A place with no hoopla, drama and ill-advised BS always wins this heart.

Challenger's is the new hottest sport's bar trying to make a splash in joco. It's located in the old Arizona's neighborhood bar location and still has that sign on the front facade. I might recommend changing that soon... Anyways, this place is loaded up with 40" LG flat screens placed quite strategically for sports viewing. Obviously, this is a KC sports bar so Chiefs football is going to hold precedence, but the staff does balance it pretty nicely among all the NFL action. Sundays offer 5 dollar pitcher's of domestic brews, which gets you just shy of 5 pints, damn good deal. I also sampled the chicken nacho's and buffalo wings, both of which have clever sporting-related names that I don't recall. I'll also choose not to recall the food, worse than typical bar food - bland. Also, raffles going on every time the chefs score, so an added bonsu. I'll come here again, mostly because of the good viewing options for NFL and cheap brew. A-OK.

Decent food, great wings. Majority of the service staff is great. Not a bad place to watch a game with friends. Fridays are interesting later since they bring in a VJ with the hope, I guess to change it from a sports bar to a club????? Other than that I can't add anything that Jeremy hasn't already written.

Like Jeremy stated, the game room is awesome and the main area is comfortable and warm. Friends and I used to go to Arizona's every Thursday for their $1 well & $5 domestic pitcher specials but clientele has recently turned increasingly uhm...urban (Knee length white t-shirts, ankle length shorts, and people that tell you to get the $%&# away from their tables) and they raised the well prices to $1.50, started putting them in smaller cups, pitchers are now $6.50, and there is a $3 cover charge. I am not complaining because those prices are still very cheap, but Thursdays used to be an institution for my friends and me. And with winter coming, the patio not being as accessible, and the same old rap songs getting louder and louder; I will not be going to Arizona's again unless I have a really good reason.
